Reflection 1 (Week 3)

This week, we’ve read another two readings for Unit 2. First is Reading 1.3 ‘Rules & Regulations’ which explains how language is used in order to manage behaviours and influence others. Unfortunately, the text is quite long which makes it almost unbearable for me to finish it. Hehe…

Now, lets move on to ‘Battling the Bullies’. Ahha…this one is more interesting. It is about bullying and how to overcome it. I’ve always been against bullying, so its no surprise that I actually read this one word by word! For me, the article is simple and easy to understand.

Oh yes…! I almost forgot to mention that in this unit, we emphasized more on the perspectives. At first, I found it quite confusing and difficult to answer this question. Eventually, after rounds of reading, I slowly got the point. Not really sure its correct though, I just hope I did answer well in the portfolio…huhu…

Comparing the way I read this article, I think I’m wiser & critical this time. I’m getting used to the notion that reading is more than just spelling out words. This makes me more interested than ever to write in the future. I like the idea of people analysing my work just to understand what I’m trying to say. Cool, huh?

Obviously between the two readings, there are some differences. The first reading is of course more serious than the other one. And the latter involves more emotions, I have to say…it’s easier to get connected to the message conveyed.
